5 ) Meat – When it comes down to it, stay away from fatty cuts and go for leaner options like turkey, steak, London broil, chicken breast or fish. That means no cold cuts, fried or seasoned meats including chicken nuggets, buffalo wings or spare ribs, marbled sirloin, sausage and bacon. Also, always go with a grilled alternative – it never fails.

6 ) Toppings – Don’t overlook the fat content in dressings, condiments and sauces. Try to limit the amount of oil you incorporate, too.

7 ) Desserts – Instead of denying yourself sweets and snacks, make smarter choices. Ices, sorbets, low-fat yogurt, fat-free cookies and pudding, and baked chips are just as satisfying as chocolates and other tasty concoctions.

8 ) Beverages – Water is always a safe bet, but try to not overindulge in caffeinated and acidic drinks.
